I've found a good site for getting a quick idea of bike prices is http://www.discountnewbikes.com.au/

I Could have got the bike, ride away, for even less than I did. BUT, that was only for an out an out cash sale. NO trade. That is, the Cheap price didn't give them any room for discounting further for a trade.

That's how you know when the dealer is really offering a rock-bottom price.  They rarely do.  Business is bad and those who are buying new bikes want flash and/or dash, not one of the best economical everyday riders ever made.  People don't make sense to me.  At times like this I would think GS sales would pick-up, with people looking to have cheap, reliable transportation now and in the future, which is very uncertain these days.
V&H pipes, K&N drop-in, seat by KnoPlace.com, 17/39 sprockets, matching grips, fenderectomy, short signals, new mirrors - 10 scariest words: "I'm here from the government and I'm here to help!"

I just bought a new '09 GS500F for US$ 4495.83 (including tax & registration fees).  That's about  AUS$ 5432.35.

The prices for anything to do with motorcycle accessories just blow me away! Have a peep at:

http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/wholesale-motorcycle-luggage-rack.html

and we can see the type of money the dealers are paying for luggage gear. I just weep.
