Hi All,

Newly minted Motorcyclist. Excited about being on the road on two wheels with a motor. Spent many years pedaling, but my commute these days is on a road without any shoulders. I have been hunting locally for a good deal on either a GS500 or a ninja 500 and picked up the bike in the picture. It's a 2007, bought in October 2008, mostly stored. It came with 180 miles on it. Tires still have nubbies. Was dropped in the parking lot once and the owner swapped out the turn signals for flush mounted ones. I paid $2500 for it. It needs to be raised back to stock in the back (dog bones were swapped to lower the bike for last rider) and I am going to do the progressive spring mod in the front as I am not a small guy.

Nice to find this forum.

Great find!  Prices this summer are even better than they were this past winter! Welcome aboard!

Bike looks great. I live in the city so my commutes are by bicycle as well. The GS is a nice change when you don't feel like putting in the work.

If you ask around you might even be able to find someone short who will just trade dog bones with you, otherwise it shouldn't be too hard to find some stock ones on ebay.

She bought it in upstate New York hoping to ride, moved to Brooklyn, carried it in the moving van, was there a few months in the winter, put it in a van, moved to Maryland. Didn't know the area and was afraid to ride as a new rider alone in an unfamiliar area and gave up. Kept the battery on a tender, ran it once a week for a few miles. Hoped to get back into it, but didn't.

Nice ride. I second going naked, but events decide that one sometimes. Having recently used all of mine. ATGATT.

You bought it from someone in MD, so I'd assume you're near enough. We've gotten a reasonable size gaggle of MD'rs on a few rides.
