Anyone know the length of the Ignition Rotor Bolt?
Need a replacement and was wondering if autoparts stores might carry an equivalent... appears I musta overtightened it... rode for a few miles and then snap... dead bike, broken bolt stuck in engine... hmmm... first things first - must remove bolt - ugh!  Hope the bolt "puller" works.

Thanks...

If you aren't going to get an OEM one, DON'T buy a regular bolt at Autozone. Most of them are junk.  Order a hardened #7 or better bolt from a fastener co.

Or just get the OEM one and get more sex.  :P

It wouldn't actually be a replacement bolt, more of a "get the bike home" bolt.  Once the bike is home again, I'd replace it with a real bolt.

Now that you've got me TOTALLY worried about it, do you think a normal steel bolt will hold for a few miles - I'm not sure how much pressure the rotor places on the bolt, so...

You wouldn't know the length anyway would ya'?

Not entirely sure of metric bolt sizes... is M6x60 an metric bolt size?
I'm trying to determine a replacement for my broken ignition rotor bolt.

Thanks.

No it doesn't HAVE to be a super strong bolt. But it is used for turning the crank around and as you have noticed, isn't the beefiest around.

If memory serves me (and it rarely does) 6mm x 60mm might fit. Depends on if you got all of the old bolt out.
I can't remember what the thread pitch is. I think its 1.0.  Take the old one with you when you get the replacement.

The bolt is 6mm/60mm long with 1.0 pitch, so your memory isn't completerly gone yet old man.
