Looking for a 2001 or earlier fuel tank in ga.

As I understand it, The 2001 tank is a smaller size and shape and will allow me to mount "clip ons" on my 2005. So, if anyone has a tank in Ga. they want to unload I am game.

What clip ons are you looking to install?  You can install stock clip ons with either style tank.  The 89 GS had the stock clipons and used the older style tank.  The newer tank is a little wider and might hit at full lock which can be solved by using "banana bars" or I think some have rotated the controls so they don't hit.  Why are you looking to replace the tank, rust internally or just to fit the clip ons?

The smaller tank was used on '89-00 GS500.  '01-up uses the larger tank.  The seat and side fairings are also different on the 89-00 bikes.

No my tank is fine. Its an 05. I have found a set of 89 factory clip on bars and it appears that the newer tank is swollen compared to the older ones. Are you guys saying the 05 tank is fine with the factory 89 bars?

Dude you need banana bars ... I used to make em out of remnant tubing from making bars ...
