Awesome accident

I just had an awesome accident.  I rear-ended a white Honda Civic, 2-door I believe, and the guy was cool about it and drove off.  Bike started right up, rode it the 1/2 mile home, with mildly bent forks; pictures soon.  Totally my fault not making sure the way was clear.  Freeway cloverleaf off-ramp, checking my 7 o'clock, accelerate, turn my head just in time to see the white Honda stopped aways in front of me.  Groin giving me a little warmth, like a pulled muscle, but full gear and I'm allright.  Faceshield scratches, and a chip on the back of the helmet.

Ouch!   glad your ok...I'm guess the Honda driver didn't have insurance or something for driving off...that happened to my wife she rear ended a guy had some damage to his car but he just took off after he looked at the car....

Nah, right bar-end bent the screw, so I'll have to replace that, the two screws holding the front mudguard (not the fender) popped off (but I think I replaced the originals with the plastic screws, that hold on sportbike windshields, before the accident).  It's more like the left pelvis area, now.  I'm going to have to ride the bike to work, because I have my Virago apart for the new backrest that came in yesterday; I have to test ride it anyway, and it's only a 5 mile commute, and the bike felt stable even with the new shorter wheelbase, but maybe because my trail has increased.  Good thing I'm running stock suspension (for my weight, it's perfect), so the springs will be fine, but the spacers may not; but like I said, it's a mild bend.

The driver's car had no damage, just little black marks from the tire.

I have insurance on my car, but I like my $30 a month rate, so if it's something minor that doesn't need fixing, or something I can fix myself, I'd rather just drive off.

Ouch ... You need to heel ... and the wife when she wants to kick you in the nvts ... well I guess show her the other nvt.

On a similar note, I got rear ended last monday, on the savage chopper, ended up getting a call today about my bike being a total loss Total loss ... I'll got your total loss right here pal ...
Yea total loss alright, I rode it home friday and rode it to work monday, never even worked on it ... they give up too easy dammit.

BTW, how did the chip on the BACK of the helmet come to be?
I'd look carefully at the helmet and maybe even replace it.

Thanks, Buddha.  Thanks, shchuka.  My helmet did hit the ground.  I was hoping to land on the bike and keep it from falling over, but it was already on its way down, when I reached my apogee (I hit hard enough that I was up out of the seat, airborne); I was still holding onto the handlbars so the bike pulled me down (to the right) with it and I fell on my back.  I felt my helmet hit the ground, so yes it will be replaced (I have a spare; same model and color).
