so i been trying to find the problem with the petcock, and i have yet to be able to find a rebuild gasket kit for it.

But it only leaks when i turn off the bike, and it leaks from a little hole on the other side of it, if you take off the petcock and look behind it almost seems like a pressure release hole. like i said when running or sitting there is no leaking at all, its only when i turn the bike off is pours fuel out that little hole for a few seconds and then stops.    So maybe its some other underlying problem. there are no leaks anywhere else and no kinked hoses.

If there is a place i can buy a rebuild kit online pls link me to right one, Oldbikebarn.com shows no rebuild kit for 2001 GS500,  Also for the moment i have some really strong rubber plumbers tape, i could just rap that around the petcock a few times and I'm sure that will stop the leak but is it ok? or is there a reason the pressure in the hose is not going where it should be going?

Nope.  Gotta buy a new one.  Try ebay, if you trust it.  Otherwise, they're like $85
You can try plugging the hole.  But, ethanol turns JB Weld orange and chalky in a month.  Gasoline-resistant epoxy will fall/pop out, too.
Been there, done that.

TIG welders seem to like cheap beer.

I replaced my 01 petcock with an 04 (better design) for $15 including shipping on ebay.

You might get as lucky.

I just replaced my 06s petcock with one from bike bandit for 80 bucks. So many are crapping out it had to be back ordered, Suzuki didn't even have them. There are no rebuild kits for them. So it's either get one off flea bay that's probably as bad as the one you have or shell out 80 bucks for a new one. Ain't ethanol gas just great, be glad you don't own a boat.

I have a petcock from my '89.  It worked when I took it off my bike about a year and a half ago when I chopped up the bike to make a Bobber.  I'd be willing to part with it for $20 plus shipping.  I could put it up on ebay if that makes you more comfortable, or give you a paypal account.

Let me know if you're interested.

Oh snap, I think I still have my '01 petcock.  I'll sell it to you for the low price of FREE + shipping ($5).  PM me if you want it.

It worked when I took it off the bike.
