Try going to http://www.factorypro.com/ and looking at the carb information behind their Motorcycle Tech link (upper left side of the home page) - pretty good explaination of how to tune/jet the kind of carbs you find on a motorcycle.

i hear people say all the time that the bike is lean from the factory and thats why it takes long to warm up...doesnt running lean mean that the bike would heat up quicker? what can i do to my carbs to make my bike warm up quicker? is that affecting idle to 1/8 throttle?
Don't mind me I'm just new.

hey man how much was tuition for mmi? i was gonna go to uti (for cars) in texas but it was like $23k...after grants and loans i had to pay about $5-7 and i couldnt afford it...backed out a week before....
the guy called my house and said "so are we getting ready to leave?" and i was like....errmmm.....hang on.....*thinking*....nope....
of course the relocation to texas was a big part of it....

Paui... Brilliant question....I thought the same thing... The twist is this...
The bike will run up to a higher temp once you get it to steady state when its jetted leaner. That is true... But it will hold decent idle only at  much higher temp even if its a little lean. If very lean it may not hold idle at all. Hence you hvae a bike that wont idle for a long time after cold starting as it is lean jetting from the factory. The reverse is also possible... A bike is jetted so rich that it starts easy almost without choke, and idles beautifully right away. As you ride it and it gets warmer... the bike dies every time you let off the gas... Been there, 42.5 pilots will do it to you everytime.
Cool.
