Hey whats going on all ... This is my first post, im new to the boards... I bought a 2004 GS500F about 2 months ago. I recently ordeded a K&N Air filter, Jardine Exhaust System and dynojet kit... Im looking to install them onto my bike shortly... Just had a few questions about calibrating the Carb... I live in ohio, the average elevation in my area is 671ft above sea level... Does anyone have any suggestions on the settings I should use for calibrating my carb ??? Im not a mechanic and have never worked on bikes before, but it seems doable so im gonna give it a shot. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! :) thank you!

One thing you're going to have to do that alot of confusion exists around is getting to the air mixture screws. there is one on each carb, and they are located on the bottom of the carbs under brass caps. If you were to turn the carbs upside down you will see two brass caps on each carb, the brass caps that are larger and are recessed into the carbs ARE NOT THE CORRECT BRASS CAPS TO DRILL, DO NOT DRILL THESE OR YOU WILL RUIN THE CARBS! The other brass caps, that are in the skinny part that sticks out most from the carbs are the correct ones to drill out. Be careful they are only about 3mm thick and the adjustment screws are very close to them so don't drill too far past them. I simply drilled into them and they both came out with the torque of the drill eventually. Good luck

Check out the wiki.  There's a matrix of carb settings people have used for various setups.
