black and silver twin

there's a dude at my work who rides a ural, he rides all year long even in snow unless its too deep to move. the dang thing is two wheel drive! the wheel on the side car has a drive axle! he puts a bag of sand in it for traction, it freakin kills me.

My dad also rides his cb450 in the snow every now-and-again. he's 65. he wont take his goldwing 1800 in the snow though.

Yeah, that's something that bothers me.  The dang snow and ice.
If it weren't for that, I'd sell my Blazer.

Dude, Homer, your avatar pic is interesting. What is it from? it's almost creepy, no offence, just curious.

Can't tell you.  Don't know you well enough.

Does your buddy at work use special tires for snow/ice?  My area doesn't get enough to warrant studs.

It's a long nose mask. Maybe a plague mask. But it reminds me of Spy vs Spy.

Back to the subject at hand - my brand new bike with the bass ackwards wheel.
Visited a little Mom-and-Pop yesterday, 2 hours drive from the dealership where I bought it.
They've heard of the same problems coming out of there.
It's their modus operandi, apparently - large flow to afford the big, fancy showroom... little to no customer loyalty.

Question is - how should I screw with them?  I'm too old to just throw rocks through the window.  Didn't buy through Ebay, can't leave feedback.  Too far for me to bug them daily/hourly.
He didn't really like me asking if it's a hover bike or Transformer.  Not quite the d!ck move I'm looking for, though.

Homer, is it the Wheel that's on backward or the tire? Seems when looking at the tread pattern and the direction of the wheel's rotation on a lot of bikes, the tire tread would pull water into the middle. Makes me wonder if the tire tread is designed that way or was put on backward. This seems quite common.

The whole wheel.
For the first 200~300 miles, it felt like I had knobby tires between 30 and 50 mph.  Kept wondering what was up with it.
It's already worn to that direction now.  Might as well keep it there.
`
Still waiting on the trim pieces they ham-fisted.  C'est la vie.

after reading this thread checked my tires.....
and AVON roadriders is installed in wrong direction, its almost 60% worn out at 3000 miles
tire is developing about 3 inch width flat wear  at the center
If I reinstall in right direction would the tire wear accelerate

60% in 3000 miles, on an Avon Roadrider?
What are you riding on?  Lava rock?  A coral reef?

It's not gonna "accelerate".  Compound is compound.
It will wear off the bevels that have developed, and SEEM like it's accelerating wear.
That's the theory, anyway.
Looks like your real-world experience is disproving it.

Edit (before I'm blown off):
You know, thinking about it... it's gotta be the backwards siping causing more heat and letting it wear faster.
Which is kinda cool - if you want to make your Avons sportier, just put the wheel on backwards.

Just turn the wheel around like mine, you'll be all set.  Oh, wait, you don't have twin rotors.   :flipoff:  Lol, joking.

I had been always wondering why the tire was wearing off so fast those Roadriders last at-least 10000 miles but had checked for everything else except tire orientation.
after about 100 miles straight 80mph...the tires do get pretty warm and have rode couple of times in rain did not really notice any difference

Same here.  Just mediocre proof that siping isn't the deciding factor in rain traction.
Decided if you're gonna just keep it as-is?

manoj

think gonna ride as it is through summer, its not worth the service charge for getting the tire installed right
