Ok so I finally got motivated to rebuild the carbs.  Got them back together and installed, got new fuel lines going, hooked it up to my car to jump.

It turns over everything sounds good but it wont fire.  So I start looking at plugs, really black, so I cleaned them off and checked, the right side fires but no spark on left.  What is my next move here?

Also I sprayed carb cleaner into carbs and it will fire and sputter but dies, so im thinking its not getting gas...sure enough there is no gas flowing from the tank no matter what position the petcock is in.  Clogged?

Third issue, I went to open the gas tank and found the key wont turn.  Tried to take the ring off and one of the screws wont come out, it turns just freely.  Is there a trick?

What are my next moves guys?
throw the leg over, fire it up, hold on.  drive it like you stole it.

Which petcock are you turning?  The tank mounted one, the slot should be vertical.  Stand-pipe screen could be clogged.

Hmmm, the trick is to open the tank with the key!  Then you can get to that last nut.  I have heard of a trick to use when the key doesn't work, but I don't know what it is.

Not sure if you knew only 4 of the 8 allens are actual bolts, the other 4 are just decoration.  I am curious to hear if the gas cap will come out when it is locked.  I always assumed it would not as an anti-theft measure but I never tried.

Try shooting a little WD40 into the lock....push down on the cap when you try to turn the key....most likely a little corrosion has built  up on the rim of the tank making a difficult to release. The engine will run if only one cylinder is firing. Trust me I know lol  As stated make sure fuel is getting to the carb, lines are all routed correctly nothing kinked. As for the one cylinder not firing that's most likely and electrical issue.

I was turning the pet chicken on the tank.  I removed the hoses and turned kept turning it back and forth and could not get any fuel to come out, so im gonna remove it and see whats up.

I did realize that only 4 of the bolts were actually screwed in.  I will have to mess with the key some more, the key will barely turn is the issue.
