For those of you not in the know, a Green Lizard is a very nice straight razor from Cattaraugus Cutlery (been out of business since '63) :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

They are, supposedly (I'll find out), some of the best shaving razors out there.  Excellent balance and nice weighting, this one is blazing sharp as well, a quick stropping and I'll be using it tomorrow.

Sh!at, In minty condition with the original box, you could snag $150 for it without a problem on fleabay.

I got it at an auction in a lot with some Gorham silver candle sticks.  I paid about 1/4 of what I can fleabay the candle sticks for and got my razor.  I also snagged an old Daisy/Sears Roebuck and co, 1894 pattern BB Gun.  I was giggling like a little kid when I won that.  Paid $10, one just sold on gunbroker for 155.  I'm probably keeping it around though, it's just to cool to part with :icon_mrgreen:

ill respectfully disagree with teh first comment terry. not some of the best, IMHO they are THE best. IMHO of course. its sitting in my personal collection, next to one identical, that my grandfather used years ago. i use hte used one. i sharpen it upon my jewelry grinder. RAZOR SHARP ftw. NOT AN ACCIDENT YET. GONNA LAY OFF OF IT FOR A WHILE. HAVE A RATHER IMPORTANT DOCTOR VISIT, LAST THING I NEED TO EXPLAIN IS WHY IM NICKED UP. IVE ENOUGH TO TALK WIHT THEM ABOUT, LAST THING I NEED IS THAT ;(, also got a broomhandle mauser from the aforementioned crackhead. it is not stolen either. :) its going with the civil war era rifle which was my grandfathers. those items will never leave my collection. he had a broom handle mauser. which was stolen from my home three years ago. this is a psych thing for me to replace it. and was finally able to do so

OOOOOH! A BROOMHANDLE!

Ok, I'm jealous!  Those are friggin awesome!

I've nicked myself a few times shaving with a straight, but never anything worse than I've done with a mach3 or the like and nicks are far less frequent.

Now you've gotta find some ammo for that broomhandle.  Those are pretty much the original FN57, seriously high velocity for a handgun round.

Tried the straight razor thing for a while.
That's all I have to say, really.

Top razor is my old Dovo (yeah, they both need a little lovin)

Not shabby lookin for a 50+ year old blade.

The 90mm shell with a Combat Commander in front for perspective. (primer is still intact and potentially hazardous, I'm told by an ol Artillery Marine)

Now the good stuff

Very nice!  I have always wanted a straight razor.. but, for whatever reason never went out and got one... Nice guns!  That is one hell of a shell!  :2guns: :2guns:

From what I'm told by the ol Artillery Marine I spoke with, there's enough boom in the primer to screw your day/week/month/year/life up pretty well.

I've got to get some BB's and some oil for the 1894, then the cat is gonna get it :icon_twisted:

Don't just get a razor, you need a strop, a brush and some sort of shaving soap or cream (nothing you can buy at walmart is satisfactory)  vintagebladesllc.com sells a kit of entry level everything you need including a very useful instructional DVD.
