Have you removed the wire clip that sits on top of the seal?

kaze11

yeah that came out easy      but i just went to town on the old ones with a screw driver and pulled them out   but i got the whole job done  and  took it for a quick sprint before sun down  and bam    the same one blew again

If you are going by the Clymer manual, I did the same thing.   I then flipped the seal to match the one in the other non leaking fork...opposite to the way the Clymer manual states to replace it....and bam no  more leaks in the past 8000 miles.
Attack but have a back up plan

The damping rod at the bottom has to come out

Kaze11,

My favorite way to remove the seals is to remove the damper rod bolt, drop the damper out of the fork, and use the fork tube as a slide hammer to drive the seals out. For what it's worth, have you checked your oil level? If it's too high, you're going to tend to blow oil seals.

How high should the oil level be? I asked this in my thread an no responses.

Depends on what springs, and spacer size you are using.  :dunno_black:

stock springs and stock spacers... i've been having a leak and just wanna fix the seal and put in new oil with 20w.

sorry, wrong thread.  :technical:

Haynes manual says ~380ml. Level should be ~99mm below top of fork. Measured without spring and spacers, fork leg fully compressed
