The undertank petcock should have the notch up and down. The frame petcock should be set to "On".

if the carbs are not getting gas you could turn the petcock to "pri" for a few seconds before you try to start it, or even leave it on prime and try to start it.  just don't leave it on prime when it is stopped because the engine could flood over time.

i got it running today one of my fuel hoses was falling apart hopefully this fixes the problem

If one of your hoses was 'falling apart' then I guess your bike is a few years old. If you have fuel issues, its worth checking starting from the tank. Is the cap vent clear so air can get in the tank? Is the strainer on the tank petcock clean? Are the hoses clear of debris? Frame petcock working OK? Then look at the carbs. Try getting it to run OK with everything in the carbs standard, then modify one thing at a time. ie, try larger mains first then if it runs well, try the washers, at least then if there's a problem you'll know what caused it. If you change everything at once you end up chasing your tail trying to figure out where the problem is. Good luck. :thumb:

If it was rich enough to foul plugs that fast, I am going to guess ,it was not the problem.

I finally got the bike running and it broke down on me after about 10 minutes of riding so i took it home put all new fuel lines on it and tried starting it it wouldn't start at all.  So i figured I would check my plugs they were toasted smelled like gas really bad so i figured i might of flooded the bike.  So i bought new plugs and it starts up perfectly but when i give it throttle right after i start it just sitting on kick stand it is blowing black smoke out the exhaust is this just a start up issue or is there something else wrong?  Thanks

Doesbit continue to smoke? Black smoke = oil. Compression test to see if your valves or rings are leaking?

If this freshershest-thread-ever gets spoiled by petty fighting, I'm gonna be so mad.
