I have a new GS500 and seems to have excessive engine vibration getting transferred to handle bars- any ideas on how to lessen or eliminate it- or maybe im just used to my old cbr 600 which was pretty smooth.
seems to get worse about 4,000 rpm which is where i try to keep it while cruising to have some reserve power..

Some people fill the bar with BB's.  Some like lead shot.  Some like expanding spray-foam.  Some like silicone caulking.
Some go on and on about bar-end weights.  Some people waste money on the "Bar Snake" thing (there's a liquid version, same as caulk).
Always thought about the silicone thing with a heavy rod stuck through the center, but haven't tried it.
You can change the bar itself, if you've got the $$.  Lots of options.

These help:

But, they take a little getting used to.  Fat grips and all.  Comfy though.  And they don't wear out the palms of your gloves.

how do you remove the bar ends to install the bebe's or snake?
do you have to take anything else off?

I dont have stock bar ends but i believe its just a phillips screw you loosen and some twisting and muscle work to get er out

the screw in the end loosens a nut that normally shortens and fattens a rubber piece inside the bar to the point that they don't fall out.  just loosen that up and pull on the bar end and it should slide right out.

I got the heavy weight bar ends:

Reduced the vibrations by quite a bit, although it's still there!
