Compliments?

I get a lot of compliments on my GS.  It's nothing special.. just a grey/silver on black 95.. It's got its fair share of scratches from POs dropping it at low speeds.. I will get people around town and on the freeway giving me thumbs up, etc.  And at gas stations people will come up to me and say stuff like "That's a really nice bike, what is it?" (Sometimes they will guess Buell or Ninja, etc)  And I'm like "Oh, it's a Suzuki.." (No decals.)   To which they will reply "Well, it's really (cool, nice, etc.)   Anybody else have similar reactions to theirs?

I don't get a lot of compliments.  First one was from a woman about 60-70 years old:  "Nice machine".  Couple of other women.  One guy, a UPS driver said "nice bike" while I was warming up with a cup of coffee at a gas station on a cold morning.

I get a pretty good amount of compliments on my F, mostly from other riders and girls, and I think riders usually do it out of courtesy, I know most of their rides are nicer than mine :), and I'd wager most girls don't know one bike from another. I was drooling over a Ducati 1198S today though.

Yes, I get compliments.  The compliment usually goes like this:

"Hey, nice bike.  I used to have one of these a long time ago but got rid of it when I got a [insert name of bike here].  I do miss riding her though.  I wish I still had it."

Then again there was the guy who was looking at my bike and said "I was just admiring your chrome or lack of it."

I have gotten a few but usually I hear "its kinda small isn't it" (they are talking about the bike) Around hear 80% of the bikes you see are Harley's so most bikes seem bigger than my GS....

Its ok though...When I see a HD broke down I toot my little horn and wave  :icon_lol:

I do not remember if I've ever received a compliment.  Most of the time my bike is sitting next to house broken down, so I guess that could play a factor.   ;)

I'll never understand why people feel the need to Honk and Wave when they drive by someone broken down? I Lost a complete front tire on my Honda Accord, while driving down the Mass Pike at 75MPH, it took an act of God to get from the fast lane into the break down lane and get it hauled to a stop, while awaiting the tow truck, at least 20 dork Bags went by Honking and Beeping, Why?
Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

I've recieved plenty of compliments on mine over the years.  It's a '96 with the red tank & side panels and dark grey frame & wheels, which is the best color scheme of all.   Usually just a quick "nice bike" in a parking lot.

The bike's styling has held up amazingly well for something that came out in '89.  It has nice lines and good proportions.

My comment was a commentary on the reliability of Harleys and how many HD owners look down at anyone on a Japanese Bike....I have stopped many times to help broken down motorcyclists. Usually don't have to with HDs as there is a group already there scratching there heads looking at the bike.

I think your woes speak more to the folks on the Mass Pike....lets face MA isn't known for its courteous drivers.....

Touche...
I  was just being duck as I had a really horrific situation on the Pike....And I'll say it, I do giggle a little when I see a Chrome Couch broken down.

At work, there is 1 BMW, 5 Harleys, and my gs500f. All of the Harley guys said they liked my bike. Only the BMW guy said nothing. A number of women who do not ride also said that it looked great.

My Brother-in-law told me it was a nice girls bike, but he said he really liked the looks. Compliment? :icon_eek:

Had an old timer in his Caddie this past weekend tell me the bike looked good. He then asked me what kind of gas mileage I got, when I told him he called me a son of a Buddha Loves You and had a pretty good laugh. He was a cool dude.
