Bike slow to wind down

I think my idle may be set a tad too high, but before I change anything, I want to see if what I'm experiencing can be caused by a improperly adjusted idle speed.  When I got my bike back from the shop, I noticed that the engine is slower to return to idle after I roll off the trottle.  It looks to be idling around 1,400. Any thoughts? Thanks,

back from the shop... Yes dead giveaway... Those Mofo's didn't replace the vaccum caps or the O-rings under them under the carb plastic tops.
Cool.

I've set the idle down a bit, so it's 1,250 now, but still slow to return to idle. I have carb sychronizers (which I have yet to use). Can I use that to verfiy that I have a vaccuum leak?

The Buddha

Notr neccesary... spray wd 40 around the carbs and look for white smoke in the exhaust or if idle goes up.
That's easier.

I  sprayed the carbs with wd/40 and didn't notice anything change. No change in the idle or any visible exhaust. Anything else I can try?

BadDSM

Generally when its running lean you will get slow decel on shut throttle.
Had a 94' GS500

Can this be tested by adjusting the mixture screw? I don't have to reject or anything do I?

The Buddha

Well opening the air screw will richen it up and might make the problem go away. No worries till you hit ~6 turns out... it may fall off after that.
Cool.

I noticed the same thing the other day when I pulled my carbs off for the first time. The little o-rings and the o-ring around the cap were gone! I know that the PO had some carb work done by a shop.... so I'm sure they just neglected to replace... :x  :x  :guns:  :guns:  anyway, the bike was running fine w/o 'em....   No problem with slow to return to idle.....
