Started it for the first time in 4 years after de-rusting and sealing the tank, cleaning the carbs and frame petcock, replacing fuel lines/tank petcock/chain/sprockets/battery, changing oil/filter, and replacing spark plugs.  It started up pretty well, but is running really rough after 1/4 throttle and at least 1 carb is overflowing.  I need to check the float heights again, and change a few O-rings in the carbs.  I'll probably go after it again next weekend after I get some parts and clean the air filter element (uni filter).  I also need to lube the cables and adjust the clutch, and eventually do the fork oil and seals.  I also replaced the brake fluid.

It was nice to hear it run again.

Got some Vortex clip ons in the mail for the whopping price of... $60! It was an open box model from Amazon warehouse and hasn't been installed before as far as I can tell. Pretty happy about that!

Put new front and back tires on in the Honda 919. Went from Pilot Road 2s to Pilot Road 3s.

Mileage since last change... 20,517km for the front and 17,257km for the rear. Not too shappy for a larger bike. Even the tire guy was impressed  :dunno_black: - guess he'd be knocked over by 30,000kms from front tires on the GS then  ;)

Cleaned the carbs on the 89. Primed the tank repairs. Sanding down the urethane primer with some 320. It will need a little more primer. My buddy got some pearl white paint for an 05 Nissan Murano that was not even close to matching, so That paint is available instead of spending $70 for another half pint. Can't beat free. I stripped the decals off of the 89, in preparation for painting all of the plastics and tank. This winter I'll tear her down and clean-paint the frame, but I doubt I will replace the graphics, probably cost a fortune. Maybe something custom.

I never drilled out the idle adjustment screws on the 89, just really focused on the primary jets. Boths bikes are running absolutely fantastic now, but mileage actually dropped a little bit, right around 60 MPG. It might be because I am more agressive on the throttle, much more fum to ride when the bikes are running close to 100%.

Yesterday I rode 145 miles.

Took her for her first ride since I bought her.. Discovered that she needs cosmetic work

Replaced my front tire with a Dunlop GT 501 and rode for 200 miles.  So far it seems to be a great tire.  I like it better than the BT45.

Put on a new Gimbel seat on Junior that I just finished painting and clear coating.

LED units in gauges and idiot lights except indicator ...

Pearl White 4spot T10 for gauges and Pearl White single spot T5 for the idiot lights .. The milky top instead of clear small lens does not wash the colour out of the jewels  :thumb:

You are using white LED for the jewels? Try LED of the same color as the jewel. It makes the color very intense,

Janx101

Yeah I remember seeing that mentioned..  :thumb: .. The milky/pearl tips on these white ones don't wash out any colour far as my eye can see though...

Main difference is that until I diode up the indicator circuit ... The old style bulb in that looks like a candle in a desert!

Ive put leds in all the idiot lights...noticed when left indicator is on the idiot light no work...but on right it does

Do a search for the led indicator diode fix. What you're seeing is because your LED is polarized, but power flows in both directions through the turn signal indicator when using a normal bulb.

Took the 89 painted parts to my buddies body shop to be painted. Picked up some black paint and glass bead blasted the tubes and brackets in the rear frame area and painted them black when I got home. Tank, fender, side covers and rear connector as well as grab bar will be painted by Friday. I ordered a tail light sub harness, something ate the insulation off of  some of the wires.
