Tail/Brake Light Out -- Please Advise...

Hi,

My tail light recently stopped working.  I got a replacement bulb, but it turns out neither of the filaments on either of the two tail bulbs  have burned out, though I can't get either of the two bulbs to illuminate by pressing the brakes or putting the ignition in the park position.  I looked for a possible fuse, but only found two 20A fuses on the bike that I didn't think are related to the tail light.

What do you suggest I try next?  I'd like to try to fix this myself rather than go to a shop, and while I don't know much about bike repair, I can usuallly figure things out with a little help.

Thanks, --Jon

if the bike starts, its not the fuse, the second fuse is a spare. Only one (inside the red/green box) is the real one.

I think you may have a lose contact, check the connectors downstream from the bulbs, its possibly a lose contact.

I checked the wire connectors.  What about the contacts/switches at the brakes themselves, is that what you're refering to?  Can you describe them, how to access, and any other info that might help me check?  Thanks.

get a multimeter that can do continutity testing..

then basically go from there, take out a blub test the socket to the wire connector behind it, then from there to the computer connector (orwhatever its called) on the right side of the bike under the plastic) then from there to the other parts.

The rear brake has a switch on it, to sense the trigger and so does the front you can check if those are plugged in.

Dirty corroded connection... dont laugh... more than 1 of us here have been grounded by bad/dirty connections. BTW if only brake light is bad... you may want to check the switch at the brakes.
Cool.
