so... i just bought myself a 1981 Honda CB750F. it's rough and i plan to either restore it or cafe it.

now my questions are:
anyone on here happen to have experience with these bikes?
anything i should look into while im rebuilding/repairing?
know where i can get a manual for it online?(and by online.. i mean free xD)
does honda keep records of the keys for each vin like they do for their cars? (i have no keys for the ignition/tank)

i've never done anything like this. ever. the extent of my motorcycle repair/maintenance starts and stops with the basics with my gs5. but, considering how much i paid for the bike, i dont mind having this fun little project to work on.

pictures up once i get the bike back to my place.

rustbucket on wheels that go vroom vroom and stuff.

Excellent bike the F, 4 valves per cylinder 4 into 1 exhaust, had one back in the day wicked fun the final death knell of the big bore euros for years was brought about by Honda.

No key database take the ignition switch off and take it to a locksmith they can impression a key for you.

I had one with the 900cc cobra motor kit in it, part of that conversion involved milling the flywheel down to 3 pounds which meant no more electric start.... god kicking a big inline 4 was hell but it was so worth it. It involved milling the flywheel, bigger cams and the honda racing purple valve springs cylinder bored and re sleeved, new pistons and conrods  as well as a rejet.

Best of luck finding any parts, and those Keihin carbs are expensive they were high dollar back in the day so careful not to bugger them up.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

there are alot of parts out there, ebay has pretty much everything, as for the keys, Your ignition may have a number stamped into it, that is the key number, check ebay

Be prepared to spend money, free/cheep bikes usually cost more than good bikes in the long run

Here is mine, a 74 750K, sat in a basement for 15 years, siezed motor, It still isnt finished, but it starts and runs(it was free)

Carbs were a little dirty

It was a little dirty but no rust

You can see where the previous owner bent the kick start trying to turn it over

It start at the push of a button(Dont mind the lack of gear, wasnt leaving the yard, still need tires lights)
