Im looking for a Katana 600 rear shock, mostly on eBay. What is a decent price to pay? I dont want to spend much more then $50-60 overall. The ones in that price range look like junk and the nice ones are listed for "buy it now" at $120++ which seems ridiculous.

I also have a SV shock coming in the mail. I want to try both and see....

just sent you a PM, that shock should get to you today or tomorrow if you haven't gotten it yet. I mailed it on Monday.

I don't know what the going rate for a katana shock is, but I don't think I could bring myself to pay more than $40 for one, but I'd be looking for something closer to $20-30. GS500 riders are the only people who buy them, so I can't imagine the prices being all that high... You might have better luck joining a katana forum and finding someone parting out a bike.

Yup i got the PM, should be here soon. Im stocking up for winter tinkering to keep me busy  :icon_lol:

Good idea about the Katana forum...

:cookoo: I paid $20 something-ish on eBay for my kat 600 shock...shipped. other shocks were in the same price range, varying conditions, extra bits etc. Keep searching, you'll find a deal sooner later.

I think i may have a candidate. Waiting for a reply on exact condition. I also want something newer. Why put a really old part on a 2002 bike  :icon_question:

Oh I see, I have a 92 so my options for newer/older were better. Still, I don't trust eBay sellers all that much anyway. If it looks in good condition I usually go for it rather than see an old rusty shock that claims to be from a new bike with only 2,000mi.

i paid 60 for a 95 i think? but it only had 7000 miles on it and it was super clean no rust and no leaks. love it, huge difference it clearance and handling

I paid around $40 shipped, a while ago, for an 5-8 years old Katana Shock, and worked fine for a while. You must hunt the good deals. Did you ever think on an R6 shock? I bought one 'cause the spring on my katana shock is almost worn after 5 or 6 years, and wanted to try the R6 rebound adjustment, but haven't tried yet. Check for the years the R6 shock works on the GS.

The R6 shock can easily be made to fit, but it's way too soft for the GS.

If you're looking for a cheap street upgrade, the Katana 600 shock is where it's at. If you're looking for a cheap race upgrade, get a Katana 750 shock. If you want to revalve and respring a shock for race use, the R6 shock (06+, I believe) is your best bet.
