Very interesting - thanks for putting in the effort here!

What's the benefit to the bar end mirrors as well as the standards? Focused at different spots behind/beside you?

One more thing I'm curious of. You have a lot of electronic gizmos and gadgets. Have you done a power budget or are you worried of overtaxing the alternator?

Those snazzy stock mirrors make the "F" bike look sporty but (as with most stock mirrors) are only good for checking my shoulders for dandruff.
Conversely, the ugly bar-end mirrors are a life saver in traffic.

As for the electrical system. . .
Funny you should mention it.
We are running a thread on that very subject.
Here's the link;

As for overtaxing my electrical system. . .
The short answer is NO. Not worried about it.
If I was worried, I would replace my cylinder head temperature gauge with an ammeter, which I have considered. That would place the ammeter directly under my voltmeter on the left console which would make good sense.
I have hung similar electronics bling on my Yamaha thumper and that only has a 170 watt system, not 200 like the GS500F and she seems to do fine, (i.e. never a need for battery charger sessions).
Some other fun facts. . .
Be aware that unlike an alternator, a stator doesn't start to make any usable power until at least 1800 RPM. At idle its your battery's job to handle the load until the revs pick back up.

If and when I smoke a stator or voltage regulator module, (or have an electrical fire while under way) I'll be sure to post the news (and photos) here at GSTwin.com!

P.S. Just for fun here is a shot of whats under the front shroud of my little Yamaha.
Very busy indeed, and no fires. . .Yet :icon_mrgreen:
