Tank Petcock Seal

I know there are countless petcock threads and I have read a ton of them.  What I am wondering is about the seal when you remove it.  I am going to clean the tank out again and in the process remove the tank petcock to see what ails it.

Is the seal usually toast on this part after you remove it?  I have one on order and I am sure bike bandit will wait the standard 3 days before shipping my parts.  The bike is still able to be ridden as is so I hate to put her on the sidelines if I don't have to.  Can this seal be re used in your experience?

I have yet to see this part with my own eyes but I understand there is a screen or filter of some type in the tank.  Would it be possible to remove it completely and just filter downstream?  That is what I am planning to do if possible.

Forgive me if this has been discussed before.  Any pics of the tank petcock out of the tank would be helpful if you have them.  If there aren't I will take pics of mine when I pull it.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Enjoy the day.

it is a rubber gasket-type seal, similar to an oring.  I have reused mine more than a few times, still holds gas fine with no drips
