Hey guys. So I thought I'd post some pictures of my bike & my project bike. I just got my GS as my first bike about a month ago & I knew I'd be hooked before I even got one. Riding is a ton of fun & I love the gs's weight and noob-friendly power. There's been a couple times I know I'd have been in trouble if I had a bigger, heavier bike. I'm still a little timid riding thru the canyons, but I'm excited to learn and get better. I posted a lil' about myself in there intro thread here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=4200.1780

Here's the current bike (Click on pictures for bigger view):

So far I cleaned up the beat-up exhaust a bit, replaced the chain, front sprocket, rear tire, fork seals & oil, and also installed progressive springs & replaced the beat up dash that was on it with a non-working odometer and cracked gauges. I'm not sure how I feel about the new tach mount, but it'll do for now. Bonus points if anyone knows what that taillight on there is! (Not my doing, btw)

Turns out I had a little extra money from graduation so I ended up buying my '89 and then purchased another '89 with a trashed title & no gas tank but theoretically running (altho I have no proof of this currently, the wiring is trashed). Turns out the project bike had progressive springs on it, so that was pretty sweet. And here she is:

In the second picture you can see my "garage"  It works just fine, but it suuuuucks when it's 110 degrees outside. And here's the beautiful seat the guy gave me with the bike! Mmmm....looks comfy!

Now here's where I need some opinions. I plan on having there be just a single seat after the fuel tank and nothing else. So a bobber style, I suppose. Kinda like the bike homer built, but with a single seat. I'm probably going to just build a frame + a seat pan and make a custom seat, but I'm not sure on what to do with the seat angle/length. I spent a bit today pulling the fuel tank from my running bike to mock things up and chopping the rear off. Here's some pictures of the bike "de-assed". I think it looks sweet like this!

So, in conclusion, anyone have any ideas for a seat design? I'm still mulling some ideas around, so any tips would be welcome. Thanks for checking my thread out! Hopefully it'll be updated fairly regularly, even during the semester!

I've always like the single seat, chopped off back look on GS's.  Maybe once I get a MIG and a proper garage I'll consider it myself.  Keep up the good  work!

Looking good so far. Single seat here but I needed the cowl for my wiring and to hold the battery.

The rider's seat from an older model Speed Triple would look cool on a bobber type bike. You could even mount a bracket right off the back, where it curves up, to mount the license plate and rear signals. That might be sweet.

Just an idea.
