Just bought a 2006 GS500 F with 3500 miles.  Got it for $1300!  I was riding tonight and my nuetral light quit working, any guesses on what would cause it, or am I simply overlooking the bulb?  Also, I am thinking about changing the spark plugs, what would be a good replacement and what the the gap setting be?

steal a bulb from one of the working lights and plug it in to the neutral light, if it lights just get a new bulb.
Previous bikes: 2002 Ninja 250R

Current bike: 2007 Kawasaki ZX-10R

What a steal for a bike! Good job!

Neutral Light: It is most likely the bulb - dead or loose.
Here's a test to be sure it is the bulb and not the neutral switch or the wiring.

Things to remember with the GS and the safety interlocks with neutral:
1. Won't start if kickstand down and NOT in neutral
2. If you're running and in neutral (safest way to test) and you put the kickstand down, it will stop when you go out of neutral. You can't be in gear with the kickstand down. (Always pull in the clutch to test this.)

So try this:
1. Be sure you are in neutral. Roll the bike with the clutch OUT to be certain you are in neutral.
2. Pull in the clutch and with the kickstand up, start the bike.
3. Now, with clutch in, put down the kickstand.
If the bike stops, it doesn't think you're in neutral and it is a wiring problem or the neutral switch. Remember you can't be in gear with the stand down.
If the bike keeps running, then it knows you are in neutral and it is the indicator light. You can put the kickstand down when you are in neutral.

Damn thats a good deal! If it came with a manual check that for the gap. Some newer plugs, like iridium ones, dont require gapping. You just use them out of the box, someone correct me if im wrong on that.
First bike - 2002 GS500E - Sold
Current - 2012 Triumph Street Triple R

Adidas is right on mark there. Most likely you have a blown bulb or a bad connection. However, for $1300, who could complain? Great Buy.

I think I've replaced a couple of my bulbs over the years. It's a pretty easy fix.

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
