Does anyone else feel this site word censor is super conservative? Dont get me wrong, great forum, love it. Some times it just makes following someones thread annoying. I understand the F-word and a few others but overall i think too, too many words are censored. I run my own forum as well and only censor the F-word.

b  i t c h, d  o u c e, d  i c k, s  h i t, those arent curse words. Im not sure what else is censored.

I dunno I think those words are curse words and believe in a motorcycle forum there really isn't a place for them.

Just my .02 cents.

I agree but if you arent using then to describe a person, then its ok. Like "removing that peg was a b  i t c h"

I don't care if its censored or not. I do find it annoying that the words are replaced with something else. A simple ***** would suffice. Sometimes a find myself reading stuff because I haven't noticed a "bad" word is supposed to be there.

the "buddah loves you" made me do a double take the first time I saw it.  I say whatever......censor it or don't......Jimmy crack corn O0

For the longest time I just thought there were several people on this site that liked to say "Buddha loves you". It took me months to realize that it was a replacement for a censored word.

Most of the ones you listed don't bother me being censored, you don't really need half of those unless you're in a high school gym class, but I could use some standards like h*ll or D*mn on occasion without having to put in *s just to have them show up.

Oh crap, I thought people did like to say "Buddha loves you". shaZam!. Wasn't till I swore in one of my posts I realised there was censoring on the forum. I thought you guys were all just nice and polite. Which is rare in forums.

Forgot to add. I actually think its a nice change to not have swearing, even if I still type it myself.

tt_four

haha, that's how I found out about it too. I read through one of my old posts and did not remember ever writing "shazam!" before

plewis51

laugh what a

b i t c h = "Buddha Loves You"
s h i t = "shaZam!"
d i c k = "duck"

the F word give you the first and last letter with a percent and dollar sign in between. I never noticed the replacements until this thread.

How could D o u c h be censored?  Srsly?  THAT is a bad word, but whore is no problem?

Fvck Tipper Whore!

I don't like that word replacement...I feel that this is pretty homosexual...however, I deal with it because I don't pay the bills.

You can express anything you want if you use a little imagination.  It's good for the mind.  You can use pretty salty language without being vulgar if you use a little care.  In fact, I think I'm somewhat of an expert at it.

I prefer the original words, but I'll settle for letter replacement and substitution...

Some of the posters can barely type legible sentences as it is. I prefer not having to read 10 "F" bombs per sentence from over caffeinated 17 year olds.

What about over caffeinated middle age stressed workers?

That's fine...at least they have something to curse about...

I've cornered the market on middle age, over caffeinated, F bomb dropping, grumpy people...

The word replacements go back to the beginning of the forum. The forum's owner, john, started it. Everyone enjoyed it, so it's  continued as a time-honoured tradition, with members often suggesting replacements or wanting surprise replacements that they could look for and try to guess at. I guess it's not as enjoyable if you weren't around when it all started and don't know the back story.

Members have msg'd me before when there are replacement words that truly mess things up, and I'm always happy to fix those.  :thumb:
