Identify This Microscopic Part

I was getting parts in order today for eventual reassembly and there is this 1 part that I cannot identify, and I only have a minimal guess as to where it might comes from? In these pics, it's the little Ball Bearing/Metal Ball Thingy directly under the stator assembly.....

It was in the bag with the Stator Assembly, Signal Generator Plate, Oil Pressure Sending Unit, and Bolt/Mount for the Signal Generator. All of these parts were placed in the bag when I took off the Side Covers of the motor and the various items attached to the inside of the covers. I have no idea what it is? I don't think it came off of the Signal Generator Plate? or from the Stator itself?

In the screw in portion of the Oil Sending Unit where it screws into the Clutch Side Cover, there is a small cavity where this little ball could sit, but I don't know why it would have come from in there? Wouldn't that cut off flow?

I have yet to scour the manual to see if I can get an answer, but the minute I saw it and didn't know where it came from, I was like, "And So It Begins" Hopefully the re-assembly won't have more of these moments, but I know it will.

So, anyone know what it is? Where it goes? Is it some sort of check valve ball? Did it even come from anything in the Side Covers? Signal Generator? Stator? Oil Pressure Sending Unit? Argh, HELP....

Could it have come from the Gas Cap Assembly and Surround? I did remove that as well, and there is a chance it got mixed up with the signal generator parts box? Maybe some sort of check ball in the gas cap?

I wasn't going to say this reading your first post, but as I saw yuor second one....

Yeah, this little ball could well be from your GAS CAP. If so, it's the one located on that "door" that covers the keyhole. It makes the door stay open or closed with a little pressure.

Strange thing is that this ball is over a very tiny spring. Do you have it?

Fry

Ill have to check for the spring...All I did was remove the entire Gas Cap assembly from the tank...I didnt dis-assemble the Cap mechanism itself, took it out as 1 piece, Argh....

GAS

If you didn't disasemble it, I can't see a way of the gas cap ball jumping out, strange!!!!

I'll have to go take a look at the cap, gonna go do it right now, won't be able to sleep if I dont....Pics to follow.

Well, I figured it out....

I decided to go out and look at the Gas Cap assembly and perhaps see if this mysterious ball bearing had come from that unit, and perhaps had gotten mixed in with the Signal Generator Parts Bin....

As luck would have it, in with the Gas Cap was the Clutch Screw Assembly, upon further inspection, it appears the ball bearing came from this item.

It is a 2 piece item, and when you slide the inner portion/barrel out I noticed conical grooves wrapping around it.

Looking into the assembly I can see multiple little ball bearings in the same conical pattern, allowing the inner barrel to rotate within it. Looking closely I notice 1 ball bearing is missing, and it's the same size as my mystery part.

So I think I've found were this mystery part goes, Phew....

Thank you for posting to tell us where it goes, and thank you for pics.  This kind of thing is not in the service manual.
Keep adding to the carb jet matrix!

Yeah, I pulled that apart once... Kind of a pain in the a$$ to get it all back together.  If I remember correctly, after cleaning everything well, I covered the inside piece with grease, then put the sleeve on, and stuck all the ball-bearings on the holes.  Then I twisted the whole assembly back in the other piece (the one with th screw holes in it), making sure the ball-bearings stayed in place.  It might fit a couple different ways, so be prepared to try a couple different ways.

Maybe you already got it back together and none of this is useful... Oh well, hope it helped instead.
