Engine Serial Numbers

Is there any way to tell if the engine on a GS is the original engine?

I've just started on a new project bike and was curious if the motor in the bike is original.

It isn't a big deal, but it would be nice to know.

i asked this question as well and from what i can tell theres no way to match the engine number to the vin but we can tell what year the motor is from
