Im getting the old gs ready for winter storage, just wondering if people normally leave there battery in or take it out for storage.

I took it out last year, but while talking to some of the guys I ride with.  They say they just leave the battery in all winter  (-20 C)

Someone also mentioned that if you are going to take your battery out it is best to put it in the deep freeze as the chemical reaction in the battery slows to a stop at those temps and will not damage it(same as leaving it in the bike all winter)  assuming that you have acid in your battery and not water

What does everyone here think? The bike is not going to be in heated storage, just in the non insulated shed from Nov to April

thanks,
Dave

I have learned the hard way a decent battery tender is only about a 1/4 of the price of replacing a battery. But if you are not going to trickle charge the battery and leave it in the bike all winter in the cold I don't see the difference of leaving it in or putting in a fridge.

If you don't have the proper acid to distilled water mixture your battery wouldn't hold a charge anyway so no worries of it freezing.
