hey guys...

so last weekend one of my roommates accidentally knocked my bike over (which knocked my other bike over... crap!). well, upon inspection, i found that the glass on my speedometer was cracked (the footpeg of my other bike hit it perfectly on the edge). sooo... my question is, does anyone have any experience fixing/replacing the glass on the gauge? i saw one post where a guy said he had/could take it to a glass shop. but not quite sure what that looks like. all i can find are automotive windshield stuff and i have a feeling thats not what i need. i feel im pretty handy, so is this maybe something i could do myself(minus cutting the glass)?

anyway, any suggestions? buddha... youve gotta have something up your sleeves..=)

thanks,

edward

cutting your own plexi glass may be worth a dry, not to difficult. make sure to practice A LOT, i have also never made a cut that tight before so it may not work out so great.

Look for a glassand mirror shop. I broke the driver sideview mirror on my truck. I just made a paper cutout of the mirror and brought it to them and they cut one the exact same size. Of course, that was easier because the size didn't have to be too exact, so paper mockups worked fine. Might need to take e act measurements for your situation.

Awesome. Thanks for the replies guys. Turns out I just remembered that I still have the original speedo that broke(but intact glass).  So now the question is how do I remove and install the glass? It looks like it's pressed or something. Any ideas? Thanks!

It might be useful, it's in portuguese, but you can use google to transalate or simply just see the pics. It's really pressed, but you can open it with a little patience and a screwdriver.

You're lucky you have a spare glass, since it's curved (not flat) you won't find a replacement anywhere.
