What does BPK and CWH mean?

here are the two items:

it's in the signature: 2009 Suzuki GS500F

That is the color code for the bike. CWH is white/blue bike and BPK would be a black/gray bike.

I believe that is the color code for the bike. CWH is white/blue bike and BPK would be a black/gray bike.

That's what I was thinking too, but I wasn't sure how CWH turns to white/blue and BPK turns to black/gray

As I have been seeing, color codes are 3 characters and/or numbers. Often there is little basis for reality, but I happen to have a 2009 so I am familiar with the color codes. If possible, a color code tries to give some clue as to the color. So the WH is white, C is the combination of something else. B?K goes for black and the ?P? probably stands for the particular color combination of black and something else. Remember that "blue" isn't just blue, but a bazillion different shades of blue. If it was "G", it could mean green or gray so who knows where the color codes come from. Probably the same guy that invents airport codes. How do you get PORTLAND out of PDX? And how about ORD for Chicago?

yeah, all the paint codes are just in the computer now though. And as far as airport codes, when I pilot is planning his/her trip the airport codes are also all previously written down so the pilot just needs to look them up, but yes I totally agree it is absolutely confusing.

Dougie Starwalt worked all this out several years ago and had a dedicated page that identified all the colours/years/codes/combos etc.

Good for older bikes. It stops at 2002. Doesn't have anything after that so CWH and BPK are not listed.

There is a seperate fiche that dealers refer to that identifies and cross references colours and combos.

CWH is the code for the YBD + YKY combo.
YBD being "splash white"
YKY being "vigour blue"

BPK is the code for the YAY + YHG combo.
YAY being "nebular black"
YHG being "grey metallic"
