Strapping Briefcase to Seat?

The only thing I really need to transport is a soft leather messenger bag/briefcase.  It only has one shoulder strap, so will flop around if I try to ride with it on.  I saw these things called Rok straps on eBay...will they safely keep my bag on the rear seat?

Good day to you!

You could use these.  I've used them to bungee all sorts of stuff to the rear seat, including messenger bags.

Not sure about the straps. I use a cargo net like the one Brendan posted.  Works great for all sorts of different stuff.

I use a tank bag every day. Haven't found anything yet that I couldn't use it for. Hell I can even go to McDonalds and get lunch and bring it back to the office drink and all.

Do these come in different sizes because i bought one and I struggle to make it stretch from one side to the other with nothing under it. Do yours fit ok?

Ditto I have used the net for 20 years and have hauled brief cases, Helmets, 12 Packs, groceries what ever with no problem. And I leave it on the bike 24/7/365. I think it looks cool but that's just me.

What size/brand do you have?  Twisted a few posts up is struggling to fit his...want to make sure I get the right one.
Good day to you!

As far as I know there is 1 size. You can use other straps to extend it if you need to but like I said I can put a helmet under mine no problem. 9 dollars is what I paid? Can't really go wrong on that can you?

The cool thing is if you get an unexpected rider they can sit right on top of it and will never even notice it is there.

What is the go with the plastic looking thing on the fuel tank of the red bike? Is it some sort tank protector or extra storage?

Go to a bike shop and pick one up. They're like ten bux.

I use one to strap extra stuff to my work bag. It stretches fine.

I got mine from a bike shop. I swear I must have picked a scooter one up instead cause once it is stretched over the seat it is near impossible to get anything under it. Ill have a look for one this weekend maybe. Which shop did you get yours?

mister

Team Moto Moorooka.

I'll bring it along when we ride again and you can compare it to yours.

I just measured it... 30cmx40cm unstretched.

They are very stretchy.

HF sells them for $4. Get 2 and just hook them together if you need a wider one to get around a briefcase.

I wish I knew where to find more, but at one point I had some bungee cord that looked like a normal bungee cord but even though there was just one hook on each end, it had 4 cords. I originally bought them at Big Lots 10 years ago. They were amazing for strapping things to your bike. You only needed 2 points to hook the cord to but it gave you 4 cords to wrap over it, unlike the nets that you need a couple different points to hook it to. At some point I lost them and have never been able to find another one.

Sometimes you can find do it yourself bungee kits at boating stores or camping stores.  You get the bungee in runninng lengths and you buy the hook ends seperately........

You can make up what ever you need / want.

I have added extra bungee to my 15" x 15" spider web bungee net.....I took off the metal hooks, and attach to the lower carrier with bungee loops instead.......fits better and no scratching, and its a little bigger for bigger cargo.......

Get creative!

Go to home depot and get some metal anchors and just bolt them onto all 4 corners of your briefcase. Then you can just use 4 short bungees, plus you'll have the coolest briefcase around.

Yeah I bought that the day I got the bike in Monterey Ca with all the other stuff in 1991 and out there tank bra's are very common.

tt_four I like the anchor idea for briefcase. LMAO
