My throttle tube cracked and disintegrated when trying to install grips :)

Need a throttle tube for 1st GEN, or 'E' model GS.

May be interested in right and left bar control switches as well depending on condition/price as mine look pretty rough

Email me at wheelinman900@yahoo.com which goes to my phone or you can PM on here.

I just destroyed my throttle tube, too. I ordered one for an sv650 on ebay for about $16 shipped.  The SV tube will also twist quicker.  ...makes the bike faster!   ;)

PatrickInNC

Did you do just a throttle tube or a tube with control assembly that it mounts too? Are the SV and GS right hand controls the same?

By the way, is that the reason the SV is faster?? Wow, finally figured it out!! I knew it was something simple like that  O0

Dunno about the controls themselves; I'm planning on just swapping the throttle tube.  I just got it today, so I'll install it whenever I can get the bike out of the rain.  I'll post my results... somewhere.

The SV650 throttle tube mod is documented here : http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=48105.0

GS is 1/4 turn.
SV is 1/5th turn.

Doesn't make that much difference, but the SV throttle tube does make it easier to get a mittfull of giddy-up when you're merging onto the freeway. And since you have to replace it anyway...

I got my SV650 throttle tube in last night.  It was $14 shipped from ebay, and it does twist a little faster.  This and my 15 tooth sprocket get me into the useful revs faster, and makes the little GS feel a little quicker.  I think it's a reasonable replacement.

Norcalbarney dude your bike looks gorgeous. From what you said I thought it would be a rustbucket.

I used to have an 89 in that same color scheme from 2000-2004-5. I then pulled off the body and slapped on some silver repaint crap on it and sold it. I still have this body set in a box, its going on my bike in a few months. Only it will have a black frame.

Haha, wow.

I was making a joke about the SV tube thing... Guess its a possibility though. Basically I just want whats cheap and works. I'm not worried about the GS being fast, there are others for that purpose.
