06 gs500f won't click or turn over

So I bought my gs500f and it needed carb cleaning cause it wouldn't idle but would go into the higher rpms. I cleaned and repaced jets and now it would start or turn over. I couldn't hear the click of the relay. I'm getting super pissed bout this. Can u guys help me out.

Does the headlight and neutral light come on when the key is on?  Have you tried putting up the kickstand and putting it in neutral?  Make sure to check everything obvious before you get too involved, but if all that is good, check to see if you disconnected a wire or something working on the carbs.  If you have a multimeter you can follow the circuit and see where it is interupted.  You can also check the relay to make sure that the start button is sending it +12V when you push the button.

Ya I checked the normal stuff. I get 12.3 v at the starter with three of the connectors out of the four in the starter switch. I also tried jumping with my truck at the battery connections. I think it the starter cylinoid but i don't know.

be very careful jumpstarting from car or truck, as i did this with one of my old suzukis and blew the CDI.pian in the ass to find another.been told the way to get around it is to put the negitve jump lead to the actual car and not on to the battery.maybe run the multi meter over the CDI to see if it has been burnt out.good luck

Ok so Im gunna try to take off the starter cover and see what's going ton there maybe it might be the connection there

Step one, check the clutch switch. The most common, bar none, reason for the condition you mention.

Or, you can check the basic operation of the starter by putting the bike on the centerstand, in neutral, take off the rear side covers, and short the starting relay (wrench or screwdriver will do.) If it doesn't work, check the starter, heavy starter wiring, etc.

If it does work, go back to the clutch switch, starter button, and start relay. Sidestand stuff is a distant possibility in terms of how often it comes up as a cause.

Hey. I read in one of the jetting how-tos that it can be easier to pinch the fuel line when redoing the carbs. Maybe that happened, and the engine won't turn over.

Turning over has nothing to do with fuel.

Yep... you probably forgot to hook up some electrical connection when you put everything back together. The bike will click or turn over even if the whole carburetor unit was in another state. Carefully back track and go over the smallest detail to find out what you missed.

If the bike was actually running (although poorly) like you said, then the starting system is most probably fine. You probably shouldn't mess with untouched parts like the starter and such unless you are at least moderately mechanically and electrically inclined. You might end up with a box of parts and a rolling frame like a lot of guys with their first bike do when they bite off more than they can chew.

bridge the relay, that comes straight from the battery, then work your way from that to all of the switches and safety locks

1. Unplug the wires from the clutch switch on left handlebar.
2. Connect the two wires together.
3. If it now turns over, the problem is your clutch switch.
4. If it doesn't, find the sidestand relay and connect the orange wire to the orange/blue wire. If it turns over now, the problem is the relay.
5. If it still doesn't go, get back to us!

How much volts on the battery to turn over the starter?? I'm getting 12.3

Good news it was the clutch lever switch it had been bent so I rebent it and the starter kicked right on. But now it seems to be leaking fuel at the carbs and when it turned over it was idleing at 4k rpms. Also it seems to hate the cold

From where on the carbs?
Both carbs or one?
