HELP!!!! My BIKE IS BROKEN!!!!!

  My GS is broken. I had just finished adjusting the chain tension. I went to crank it, and it ran a bit, then just stopped. Now it is really hard to get in or out of gear and the starter wont roll it at all even in Nuetral. Any ideas on what I broke? Any suggestions?   Any offers to help fix it?  
Any starting points, or if this has happened to anyone else. I am all ears!!

Does the motor have oil in it? And which chain were you tightening?

Check that your battery isn't dead, chain isn't too tight or binding.........that's all I have for now.

The motor has oil in it. I was tightening the drive chain. It was actually running when it stopped. It feels like the drive sprocket is not shifting. The indicator shows its in neutral, but turning the back tire feels like it is still in gear sorta. It turns, but really hard.

Over tightening the chain?
Did you check for proper play in the chain when you tightened it?
Did you adjust both sides of the rear wheel the same amount so the sprockets are still in alignment?

When you say it was running and then stopped, does that mean you were riding, or was is just sitting and idling?

I'd pull the plugs and try to turn it over.  I'd rock it in gear to feel for the problem with the plugs out.

It was Idling on the center stand. I checked the chain tension, and was putting chain lube on the chain. It acts like it is still in gear, like the clutch isnt disengaging. I already checked the motor and it is moving. I am afraid I may have to rebuild the tranny. Anyone have a complete motor they want to get off of for a decent price? That way I can have a complete spare to have rebuilt and waiting.

Clutch cable?

I suspect your starter motor is stuck in the engaged position. Pull the cover, give it a good thwack with a soft rubber mallet. You may have to pull the carbs. And, then you might be able to pull the starter motor, but if it's engaged, you may have to pull an engine cover (can't remember which).

I know it may sound off but, if it is acting like it is in gear maybe your kickstand is down and it's not starting. That happened to me once had my friend travel almost an hour to get me he pops up the kickstand to try it for himself and started right up. It was a false neutral I guess enough to turn the light on but enough engaged to activated the kickstand too.

Well I fixed it this morning.  I started at the top of the list in the manual for "Engine wont start" and it was the ignition fuse. Here I was sweating about not being able to ride, and it was the stupid ignition fuse. I didnt even know it had a ignition fuse. Anyway, I am about to go ride!!!

It's good you found why the bike wouldn't go - ignition fuse. Now, though, you need to know why the ignition fuse went - and - make sure you carry some spares with you in case it goes again.

I added a few to my repair kit. I am not sure why it went. I did realize it wasnt seated all the way when I pulled it out. Maybe it wasnt in good and shorted. Actually seemed to run better while I was riding it yesterday.
