I"m looking for a what I think is a 96 or 97 fuel tank, its the Orange tank or one that will fit. I live in the Kansas City Ks area.

adidasguy

This one I have is in the factory box - unused.
Is this the one you want?

cornix

I think that one would work. can you show me a pic of the under side? and how much with shiping?

As you know, can't really get around to get at it until I heal a little more.
It is a stock, factory 1992 tank.
Being new in the box, it will need a fuel cap and petcock. You can use your existing ones or I might have some I could  throw in.
Also have a stock 1992 tank that was painted black. (Originally purple). Dealer cleaned it and said was clean and good to use, when he took it off of Junior and put the new red 1994 tank on Junior.
I know I'm losing on the deal, but would rather have someone use the parts that really needs them and make more room in my garage, than have them sitting there with the possibility of getting damaged.
$500 for the new one (shipped)
$150 for the used one shipped.
(Of course, always OBO).

I also have an assortment of tail plastics. I can check for a set that matches the tank or another color if interested.

I haven't seen anything on a second vent tube at the bottom of the tank. If you have one that way, find out where it goes. maybe it is a drain tube to drain sediment or water from the bottom of the tank. maybe someone else knows. Never heard of it being needed.

If you want one, I'd like a deposit then balance when shipped. Shipping should be 30 days or sooner. Might be able to get someone to come over and get it out. Hard to carry a tank when on crutches.

UPDATE:
OK, on crutches so either look in books or buy stuff on ebay. I chose the former.
Seems there is a vent to the tank for California models called "Evaporative Emission Control System". Diagrams are in the Haynes and Clymer manuals. I doubt that is important but someone who is a be a carb/fuel system expert to tell how important that is and how to disable that system if you have a tank without that extra vent. Diagrams do show it coming off at a 90* angle. Regular fuel cap drain comes straight down off of the tank.

Hope this helps. Someone else care to chime in?

that used one sounds good, and I'm sure if you don't mind waiting a week are two for me to get the boss to let go of some of the money ;). then that would work.  I would be interested in a gas cap. I know I'll be looking for some tail plastic sometime this summer so I'll keep you in mind.

and If I understand right the use one dose not have a second vent tube?

cornix

plus is there anyway we can get a tracking number of the tank when this all go down?

adidasguy

I do not recall the 2nd vent as it seems to be for California models emission control.
The used tank was from Canada as Junior is Canadian and the new tank on him (and the one for sale) are from Germany. Probably still has the petcock on it (put new one on the new tank) and I think the keyless gas cap. I'd leave them on for you no charge. You will want to paint it as it is matt black right now with a couple fuel stains. Not really bad, though, so could be painted anytime. Originally was purple.

I should have someone over this weekend so we can get it out and photograph it for you. Hard to do by myself on crutches and I can't put weight on the left foot for another week or so.

I would ship UPS to KS so there would be tracking and insurance.

If you decide it is what you want after we get the pictures, I would like a deposit of something until you pay the full amount and  I ship it.
Problem there have been lots of people wanting it then they never follow through so I end up holding the tank for a month or more until I realize they are not going to respond (read that as buying flakes). $10-$25 and I'd hold it for a few months if you needed time for full amount. I hope you understand. That's why I really don't advertise much anymore.
