K after a good few days of listening, yes its damn good, much more than a thing called a "play station" has any right to be.
However what is so great about it is that its very very robust transport mechanism, and a very accurate clock. Of course there is nothing in the signal path after the dac, a 1 bit dac and a capacitor to the output jacks.
It leaves you very little chance of modifiying its opamps with fet's or tubes ... cos there aint no opamps.
Seriously, if you want a killer cd player, look into a rotel or a marantz or a phillips made between 86 and maybe 91-92. Then make sure by opening it that it has a tda1541 dac in it, then mod it with a fet or tubes.
This one is decent, and for 10 bones fantastic. But there is nowhere much to go from there.

Being that I didn't understand a lick of what you said think I'd stick with the PS1 LOL. My home theater does it for me so I'm happy!

I don't even know where any CDs are any more mainly do the Mp3 thing LOL. Can't exactly play a CD on Flick! Which is where I do 90% of my music listening. Or when I'm in the bathtub and then I put the POD on the hometheater doc and listen from there. That is usually my Debussey time. Ah "Exhibitons at an Art Museum" my favorite.
