Need a little help.  I think that my GS has been lowered but Im not sure.  When I sit on the bike I can put my feet flat on the ground.  Now, I am not the tallest person, I am 5'9", so that is not a consideration.  The rear shock is at its highest preload setting.  Does anyone know what the stock ride hieght is unloaded??  The bike is currently running a 130 70 17 rear tire.  Thanks in advance.

Seat height is slightly over 31 inches high (where you sit, passenger part will be higher)

I'm around the same and I used to be able to put both feet flat on the ground AND still bend my knees a bit on my 02 GS till I put in a gixxer shock. You are not trying to control ride height with preload, are you? I have a set of stock links that I am willing to let go cheap if you think the ones you have lowered the bike. I'll try to find them before we meet up on the 25th. I also have a good 2003 Ninja 636 Rear shock with full compression, rebound and preload adjustment if you are interested. It won't bolt up as easily as a gixxer shock but side by side, the Ninja spring has a smaller diameter compared to the gixxer spring... so clearance should be better.

The type of shoes you have on will make a difference in your inseam. My normal pants usually have a inseam of 30". I flat footed a 2011 GSXR 600 this weekend at 31.9".  I had on a new pair of hi-tec magnum boots that probably had a slightly thicker sole than my normal riding boot.  Take it for checking!

Are you feeling that flat footed while stopped is a bad thing? Many cruisers have lower seats so you would be flat footed. I prefer being able to be flat footed on the GS when stopped. If on a hill or there is a dip in the road, there is still ample room for my feet to be on the ground. (Especially when my achilles tendon was broken. Couldn't put a lot of force on the ball of my left foot. Heel was OK).

More important is how you feel when you're riding. If cramped, then raise it. If comfortable, then how you're legs are when stopped should be OK. If you can be flat footed when stopped, it makes it safer to prevent falling over on uneven surfaces. It also lets you easily keep your right foot on the brake while your left foot is on the ground and keeps you upright. I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe on a hill with right foot on the brake and my left foot on tippy toes.

Somewhere I read that proper fit would have flat feet when stopped.

That's just my opinion. How you set up your bike really comes down to what you feel most comfortable with.

Not that being flat footed while on the bike is a bad thing.  I was just concerned that it was sitting lower than it should.  I havent had a chance to ride it, still waiting to meet up with another member so I can get a good tank.  After I ride it I will see how things feel.  Thank you to all. :thumb:

I'm 5'8" but have a 33" inseam and flat foot the GS easily.

Lots of people your size can put both feet flat on the GS500. Go find one a stock one at a dealership if you can - this will answer your question.
