Keep an eye out... I've seen a lot of used leathers on Craigslist and some of the local riding forums. In the Bay Area, http://www.bayarearidersforum.com is a good bet, as is Santa Clara Cycle (which buys and sells used gear.) I sometimes see really good deals on new, but discontinued leathers at local shops*, and http://www.motorcyclegear.com/, which sells some used gear.

One other option... If you already own a leather jacket, consider buying a set of decent leather pants with a full length zipper around the waist. Most include both sides of the zipper, and you can have it sewn onto your jacket at a local tailor. 2 piece leathers are acceptable at every trackday I attend (in fact, I race wearing a 2 piece.)

* I'm pretty sure I saw technic 1 piece suits for ~$300 at Road Rider a while ago.
