So I got around to repainting this thing. I went with a metallic black, The PO did a horrible job trying to paint the tank and side panels so alot of defects I could not remove. but al in all it looks great. need to repaint the frame and re-chrome the rest.






Just need to wetsand the clear(during the clips parts were not cleared yet) and buff the parts out.

It's coming along!  Could you let me know how much you end up spending with the chrome job?  I'm thinking about my twinstar for the future.  One thing sure stands out...the seat looks brand new- the same with mine.  It's been outside and neglected, but that seat sure is durable!

i will do a parts list for this project. and update as needed.
Paint and sand paper 35-40$
battery and battery acid 30$

This is the bike needs some work but still in good shape just been sitting for some time.

Oooo Mach1 - Could you measure the tank front to back for me please, is it under ~14-15 inches.

No Sorry its around 19inches front front to back. I wonder if a GS motor would fit this frame since both are twins.

Only if you cut the frame out and add a GS frame in its place. Early Honda frames aren't very sturdy to begin with and the added weight and power (laugh if you must) of a GS motor would probably make a pretzel out of it.

What about a cm250 motor? I think even the cm400 would be way too big.

So Im trying to figure out how this bike will looks with the front and rear fenders seat trim and seat rack painted to match the tank like a modern look and good MS paint of photoshopers wanna lend me a hand. I need to see if it would look ok before I sand the chrome down.

Ick. It's a 70's bike. It should keep the chrome unless the chrome is shot.

I see painted chrome parts, it tells me chrome was rusted and owner was too cheap to replace / replate.

I can gt them chromed with no issues. thereaonI wat to paint them is for a more modern look. nothing more nothing less. I think Im going to get another set and paint them and re-chrome these.
