Looking to put on bar end mirrors, what brands would all of your reccomend? I just hate the look of the honking stock mirrors.

I want to throw a pair of these bad boys on but what size would fit the gs500f 2009?

Mine were from a bicycle shop, had to drill out the nut inside the handle bar to fit the rubber expander inside the bar.

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

Here's mine but I changed the bar to a drag bar with a slight draw back to give more of a clip on feel.

There's a forum member who parks in San Francisco who had lovely bar-end mirrors on their ride (MIssion or Castro, IIRC); they had vertical supports, and ended up over the hands.  Very nicely done!

Don't go too crazy, there's some like these on ebay that are metal and actually pretty decent...

I have a bicycle bar end mirror on one of my bikes, and it works fine, but it is cheap and plastic. One of the mirrors came unglued once too and I had to toss out the rest. I have some of the cheap ebay mirrors now, and when I compare them to the CRG I have I can honestly say that I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference if I didn't have them both in my hands at the same time.

Just a word of advice try not to get the ones made out of cast aluminum. They really dont like being tightened down.

This is what I'm using. Gives it kinda of a 89 clip on feel. A nice change from the draw back raised stock bar. You can see it in the pic I posted above.

I have a pair of drag bars and I like them.  I think I bought mine off of Motorcycle Superstore, though.

I was able to get 3rd eye mountain bike mirrors to work with the stock bar end nuts that are welded into the bar.

To do this you need:
2 machine screws, Phillips with button head; Don't remember the size, but 5mm would be my guess (length isn't all too important as the excess will just recede into the bar).
A dremel tool

I disassembled the mirrors and hogged out the bracket to accommodate the screw head, then I cut one of the rubber bushings in half to make two rubber buffers to go between the bar end and the mirror mount.

Be careful when getting the screw into the hogged out bracket; it is flexible but you can snap it if you go samsonite gorilla on it.  Dunking it into hot water first is a good idea.  Once it snaps into place its there for good.

The screw will then thread directly into the bar end and the rubber bushing will eat up a little vibration (at least I think it does).  Then you mount the mirrors onto the brackets using the included hardware.

The end product is quite durable; mine have survived at least one drop, however they do vibrate some at speed.

Total cost was under 20bucks for the set.  Project time is about an hour.
