i know this has been talked about before, but i can't seem to find it in the archive anywhere.  if i want to make copies of my keys, and don't want to spend the 20 bucks for a suzuki blank, what kind of key can i use instead?  i thought someone said i could have ace hardware make a copy but with what blank?

The picture in the old thread Finally had a key made! might help.

I had two copies made at ACE for my new GS500E a few weeks ago...  They had Suzuki blanks.  I thought I heard that Volvo keys are the same?  Check with ACE, the store by my house had the real thing for about $2 each.

Don't pay for Suzuki blanks.  I had to go to a locksmith to find an alternative blank.  They didn't give me any information on them, but they were 5-bucks apiece... well worth the search.  I got a two spares cut for 10 bucks instead of 40!!!

I was having the same trouble... went to sears and the lady used a datsun (spelling?) car blank.  Cost was three dollars.  I ride a 2001.

Hey I tried responding to your PM but it's broke  :(

Here is what I tried to send you:

The ACE in Round Lake Beach (up by Six Flags) a few blocks from my house is the one I went to.

I would think any ace hardware would have the same keys though  :?

suz12 or suz18 blanks in ACE hardware. Both work fine. the suz12 is a bit shorter, and is my personal favorite.
