GS500 fuse HELP

So my bike is not turning on and I'm checking the fuses. I saw a picture of another gs500 and it had a 20 fuse instead of a 15 like I do. Mines looks melted on one side. Should I have a 20 or a 15 here?

It doesn't look melted, in the photo.......A 15 amp fuse might well blow if the circuit requires a 20 amp.   Usually when a fuse blows it is because something is wrong in the circuit....whatever is wrong needs to be determined and corrected......

If the fuse was actually melted, I would consider it to be a big problem...and really look into what is wrong...


For you, throw in a 20 and see what happens....if the 20 holds you're good to go...If it blows, you have a bigger problem..

Volt/Ohm meter (aka VOM). Check resistance in the fuse. infinite= blown. Normal fuse will have just a couple ohms resistance (it is that tiny resistance that heats up the fuse element and causes it to heat up and melt).

Fuses: so easy to check. When in doubt, put in another one or check it with a meter.

I'm pretty sure a fuse will blow before it melts or it lets wires melt. That is there intended purpose.

"blow" "melt" same thing. Fuses blows when the wire in it melts and develops a break.
I'm  referring to that wire in the fuse holder - not the entire fuse casing.
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

definitly a 20 amp fuse  and a spare one is held in rubbercover .did mine a week ago
