What Petcock do i have?

Well my carbs are in route to getting some world class Buddha service. In the meantime i am finding all sorts of oddities on my 93 titled GS.

Does anyone know what Petcock this is?  Looking through Part diagrams and images I don't think its a GS OEM part. Also wondering if it will hurt anything?



This doesn't have a "prime" position just RES and ON. 

I also broke a fuel line when taking out my tank, the local parts store only had this

Any thoughts or is this crap? What fuel line would you all recommend?


Then i found a fuel filter which was in between the petcock outlet to the carbs:


I have read some mixed reviews on filters on the boards. I assume the Tank (2001+) has a inline filter on its petcock but i haven't checked it out yet.

Not a GS500 petcock. GS500 petcock is vacuum controlled so you don't have to turn the fuel off. It has on, prime and reserve. The one you have you need to remember to turn off and on. Get a real one for a GS500.
Fuel filter in tank is just for large junk. An in-line filter is an option you can add in and will provide better fuel filtering.

I've never had any luck with clear fuel line. It hardens, yellows, leaks easier, etc.. Ask the guy at the counter for other fuel line- should be some with the car stuff. Better yet, you can get original line from your dealer.

Yeah, but the over the counter fuel line is just as good. Ive been running it for the last 6 years on my GS and i've never had an issue. As far as the petcock sir, you were blessed by the previous owner. You no longer have to worry about fuel starvation. Just remember to turn off the gas when you get off. Trust me; it will become a habit.

So i assume if i don't turn the fuel off when its not running it floods the Carbs?

Indeed it may. Furthermore the clear stuff degrades in U/V light. Suzuki know best, stick with the oem setup/parts

I have heard HELIX fuel lines are better than stock? guess thats just hype?

I think i want to keep the after market petcock rather than doing the vacuum route.

I have about $1000 into the bike so far with gasket replacements, once i get my carbs back and get the fuel situation figured out I should be ok for the season, minus possible needs for breaks and tires.

Here is the Frankenstein bike in all its glory this has a 93 title, god knows what body parts are from 2000+ models, the tank is mos def newer along with the forks.



What do you think resell would be once i get this right?  Like I said i am $1k into her so far. But I am eying a VROD as of late. But that will be next year with cash in hand.

As long as you have properly functioning floats in both carbs and the petcock you have flows atleast as much as the stock one, you will be just fine using it in place of the stock unit.

PS: The bike looks clean and simple... very tastefully done.
