Hey, dunno if you guys know this but any pre-2010 new Suzuki bike on the showroom floor is $1000 off, I think til the end of march...

Kawasaki had (probably still has?) the same deal. I came very close to buying a new 2009 650r.

I got the 08 too, same price. What color is yours?

The blue and white with 1 mile on the odometer.

You guys are further away from Japan than we are, but a new GS here costs around $7500. Grrrrrrrrr.

Sahana

The brand new ones are still super expensive, if they're 2010 or 2011 models, but the still new but older model year are the ones that qualify for the discount.

Here, the 08s are $4395 minus the $1k off for a grand total of $3395 (plus tax,and tags). Not too shabby. If it weren't for the fairing, I'd be much more tempted.

At that price you could throw the fairing away! Or sell it to someone who's dropped theirs and you could be on the road for $3000.

Yeah, I've seen GS500 with 3-4K mi and the usual scrapes, dents and bent bar ends for the same price or more. Can't beat it! I was surprised that there were still left over 2008s. BTW, I even got my color of choice: blu/wht.

Its down to emission regs. They are getting rid of old stock pre-2010 tier-1 models while they are still worth something. Selling bikes built before 1.1.10 is allowed but anything built and sold after 1.1.10 has to be tier-2 compliant and will therefore be more desirable/expensive.

I cant believe Suzuki spent the money and went to the effort of getting it through, guess they must still be making enough money out of it to make it worthwhile. But in saying that I believe $3.3k for a bike that is essentially 22+ years old and been left behind by the competition years ago is still a lot to pay.

The next big thing is in 2014 when fuel-vapour recovery/capture systems become mandatory, this will surely see it dead and buried.
