Hi,

How do I know whether the carbs need synching? What r the symptoms? My 2001 GS has got 3500 miles on it. Is it time for a synch?

I will try to answer your question. When it comes to how the bike sounds, you really have to be present. Here goes: With these bikes, the idle is affected the most. Usually, it is slow to idle down, but may hesitate when accelerating. The bike will definitely run hotter, because one cylinder is working harder than the other; drawing more vacuum than the other and more gas. Bad. You should really notice if it's not running right or idling properly, because there may vibration. Synchronizing carbs should always be done after every valve adjustment; which is every 4000 miles. And a synch should be done every time you do something with the carbs.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
