Hey,

So has anyone on the east coast who has to deal with ez-pass devised a way to easily secure it to the bike so that it gets picked up? I have a 02 E by the way so no fairing for me. Right now i have to take it out of my pocket and hold it in the air as i go through, hardly ez.

When I was in the Air Force (before I got my bitchin' Icon Milspec vest ), I used an armband ID holder (like we wore with our PT uniforms) strapped to my left bicep to hold my card where the gate guards could see it.  Would something like that work for you?

It's RFID, right?  It should work in the top of a tank bag or in a jacket pocket, I would think.

Yes the EZ Pass is RF. I assume it will still work in the jacket pocket but i dont want to risk the ticket, those things are finicky.

The arm band idea would probably work. I wish they made a very small magnetic tank bag for it. Whos got a sewing machine and some magnets?

Just duct tape it to your tank.   :thumb:

I always see european bikes with registration holders. You could pick one up, and just bolt it somewhere where you know you're gonna be on the highway...

Very small tank bag: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/parts/luggage/tank_bags/rapid_transit/outpost_magnetic_motorcycle_tank_bag.html

I would think one could be made for less than $20.  But materials for a prototype would easily come to double that....  But maybe you could market a little magnetic bag for EZ-Pass.

They do sell suction cup holders my BF uses that on the windshield of his Shadow. I am anti-toll roads and  not a fan of the EZ pass. When I would have it in the clear window of my tank bag it wouldn't go off. But, when I had it in the glove compartment of my car in the foil baggy because I knew I had no money on it so paid it some how registered and I double paid for about a month. Still fighting with the Expressway authority to get my money back!

i just leave mine in the tank bag.

just an FYI, the light goes green if it registers successfully just to give you a visual.  This gives you the opportunity to try several methods.

IF it doesn't register, the camera system will snap a photo of your plate and send you the bill in the mail.  As far as I know, if you are an ezpass customer and get a violation, you pay the standard toll fee via mail.  IMHO its worth the risk to try it in the tank bag then to rig up some weird contraption or pay for an ugly ez pass holder.  I searched all the way to the end of the internet and couldn't find anything regarding any additional fees for getting a violation.  just pay the toll owed.  Don't quote me on that tho  :tongue2:

Sun-Pass here in FL. I have the larger one that sticks with suction cups. Goes on top of my tank by the handlebars, and always picks up.

I'm thinking about hollowing out a spot on the back part (passenger) on the seat and installing it under the seat cover. It's a pain to always have to remove it every time I leave the bike.

In NSW Australia we have the option of getting it in a pouch with a big magnet in it. Works well.

I don't worry about it on the bike, they take a pic of your number plate and the plate is listed on the account.

Thats EXACTLY what I want. Ill have to look around, too bad your in Australia....

I use the EZ Pass express a lot so i cant tell if it works, no light you ride through at speed. Also, i just use the one from my car when I ride, so i dont think they like swapping of passes.

Old speaker magnet, duct tape the pass to it, :thumb:. I think I'd just put it in a jacket pocket, that way it won't get taken off your bike. Or why not just tape it behind one of your side covers?

Our state does plate recognition for bikes. Set up your account and ride. The image capturing device identifies your plate and bills your account accordingly. NO need to carry the transponder with you.

For a removable holder, why not a Velcro strap and strap it to the front break reservoir?

This is why our state is doomed.  Tolls on the New York State Thruway were supposed to EXPIRE in 1988 and we're talking about EZ-Pass holders!  Remember this, folks.. government rarely plans ahead and always lies to you.  They can't tell the truth if they try as they rely on old and incomplete information.  If they do plan ahead you can bet it's for something stupid, wasteful, or destructive, like ethanol.  Been to the grocery store lately?

Yeah, the Osceola Parkway has been paid off since the 80's yet it is $1.75 to get six miles to the BF house. They said it was due to the construction on John Young Pkwy. What that did was have John Young overpass. So you have to sit at a red light on the street you pay to go on  :dunno_white: It's faster to hop on 192 to Carol on hop on the Osceola parkway after the toll booth. We timed it from church one day I beat the person paying the tolls! The 408 same way always backed up when you go on it.

I myself am on a personal boycot of toll roads I just don't see the problems they are supposed to be solving. Of course someone is coming up with the great idea to make parts of I-4 toll  :bs:    I did notice though that they've created a permanent pass that is like a sticker that has the RFID or whatever they use inside of it. Did it for the bikers!
