New rider/owner in Ohio

Hey everyone I thought I would finally get around to posting a welcome message and a little introduction of myself. I just turned 23 and picked up my '05 GS about two months ago from the second owner, it has less than 1,000 miles on it (975 to be exact). I have never ridden a motorcycle before but I figured now is a better time than never and today I went in for my permit test and passed

I have already purchased all of my gear (lid, jacket, back protector, pants and riding boots), signed up for my local MSF class in May and now I'm trying to get the bike in tip top shape to ride (it does not seem to want to idle at all without the choke on and it is popping really badly when running). I figure the carbs need a good cleaning and the bike just needs her leg's stretched.

Anyways I hope to learn all that I can about the GS500's and enjoy the hell out of it

might as well rejet if you're opening the carbs for a good cleaning. even a stock bike can benefit from rejetting. pm buddah for jets

i'm also taking my MSF course this weekend! can't wait to be a riding legally haha.

Hey the wind, I'm up in Richwood and work in Marysville. We should hook up and take a ride sometime. I'm all about riding over towards Bellefoutaine/East Liberty area have some good roads. Me and my riding friends go far east/southeast for long rides usally once every 4-6 weeks. Last ride was memorial day and we rode down to Nelsonville and took 78 out of there picked up the triple nickel to zanesville, 60 out of there to Loudenville and then 3 to mt vernon then 229 basically back home. Total round trip from me was 332 miles. It was a great day.

Hey evilimprdr, I would defiantly be down for getting together for a ride. I live closer to Raymond and Broadway and have been taking short rides here and there around Richwood. I have been looking for someone to ride with since most of my friends do not ride a motorcycle. Let me know when you would like to get together.
