Found a local 2001 GS500E for sale.  They're asking $2000.  from what i see it is in perfect condition with only 3150 miles!  KBB and NAPA put it around $1500-$1600 but thats with avg milage of 19,000.   What do you think this bike is worth?  kbb and napa dont let you adjust milage for a value.  any sites out there where you can check the value with the actual milage?

I paid $2400 for my 2000 R6 with 7k miles on it, guy was asking $2900. Go see it and tell them you have $1600 and see if they'll take it imo.

i'll offer 1800.  do you think 1800-2000 is a deal for a 10 yr old bike with only 3150 miles?

I would have to say 1500-1800 is a deal, under 1500 it's a steal. Over 1800...I paid 2500 for a 2001 w/ 5k on the odo but that was May 08' so not sure if Id pay any over 2000.

Probably depends on where you are but I don't think you'd be getting ripped off if you paid close to the asking price.  Talk 'em down as far as they'll go though

It is worth what you are willing to pay for it. I paid $2.300 for my 2004 GS500F with 1,9k miles. I probably could have talked him down more but frankly that was a great price in my book, but I was set on a GS500 and all the other ones I had seen had so many more miles there was just no comparison.

But, making a lower offer is unlikely to hurt- what are the chances he will say no and not sell it to you for the original asking price :icon_rolleyes:. So I would offer less, and see where it goes. I would offer KBB or just a tad over. If he brings up the mileage thing (you should not), point out regardless of miles older bikes need work regardless... somethings like seals and stuff just do not last forever. And a bike sitting in a garage really can take just as much damage as one being ridden- in fact it could be even more since the owner is less likely to notice something off like a rusting chain, or a loose chain, wearing things out, etc.

I would definitely not be too worried about that stuff, but that is your sales pitch of why you do not want to go so high as $2k.

I paid $1995 for my '01 E 3 years ago with 4100 miles on the odo.  I would say you should easily be able to get it down to $1700-$1800.
