Is it that much different it other countries?  What is the "pump thing" that seals against the tank?

As far as I know, there is a breather tube that is built into the nozzle of the fuel hose...once it is blocked by the fluid rising in the tank, is stops the flow...nothing to do with the "thing"...are you talking about the splash guard?

I mean really, point-shoot-stop before it comes out the top...not that hard...kinda like a guy taking a leak into the toilet, you don't have to have your "thing" in the bowl before you start...just a bit of aim and away you go...

Yeah, the foreskin, lol.  Next time I fill up I'll try just holding it over the tank.

EDIT:  Yeah, here in LA we're not using the archaic 19th century filler nozzles like Canada.  So there...

Yea, that foreskin I just hold back with my left hand while doing business with my right hand, watching it squirt in the hole.
