Thanks for all the replies. I have been looking into the legality of wearing a tinted visor but cant find anything about it. I now assume, as others have said, that it would be a fine if caught wearing it at night. Thays like wearing sunglasses in a club

I wonder if Cyclops from x-men encounters any problems with wearing a full face helmet.. hmmm..

Hearsay, and utterly inadmissible in court, but I found this:

Awesome thanks! I love the last couple posts

with a tinted visor, it's not the same. They can see your body and hands, they dont need to see your eyes right away. It's not like they are worried you'll "shoot them a dirty look", ya know?

Unless you are carrying a gun in your mouth!! :laughing

Hehe, I've been known to shoot my mouth off now and again. Ask my wife, it's at least a 12 gauge! :crackup

I often wear sunglasses with my full face, even if I have my tinted visor on.

I don't like wearing sunnies under my helmet, but that's only because my sunnies have wide frames, if they were narrower, they'd be fine :)

i wear light brown lense prescription sunglasses, a nike sports frame. Even though it is hard plastic it is surprisingly comfortable in my Shoei Qwest.

I wouldn't mind paying for a nice prescription sunglasses. Not the kind that look like normal glasses with tinted lenses, but the ones that are actually normal looking sunglasses, but there's no way to know how they'd react with my helmet visor and I'm not taking the chance on a $200 pair of glasses just to not be able to use them.

I have a pair of THESE for wearing under my helmet.
Reasonably flexible arms, and soft silicon on the nose piece and arms, so no discomfort. Also medium impact rated so they will protect my eyes when riding with the visor up (already tested against small stone and insects :D)

Good coverage too, so with them seated properly I get the barest hint of breeze over my eyes, nothing uncomfortable.

Currently looking at the HJC IS-16 or similar with the second tinted visor. Want something thats has significantly less wind noise for long/High speed trips than my HJC Symax.
I like a non-sequitur as much as the next Giraffe.

OH yeah, the Sunnies I wear are Safety Specs I get from work - so even if I have the visor up I am protected. I have an endless supply as we are NOT allowed to wear normal sunnies at work. They are shaped Just Right to be worn with the helmet on. Not polarised or anything. But my commute is only 20-30 minutes.

I have a HJC FS-15 helmet that has a built in shade that retracts at the push of a button...kinda like a pilots helmet...actually, with the breath deflector on and the shades down you look like you are ready to shoot TOPGUN...with a Fosil decalled helmet... :icon_mrgreen:

Later.

After riding yesterday evening I used my clear visor with sunglasses. Man my sunglasses dig into my temples and the my viewing angle from side/side has been greatly reduced. After reading from the previous "Let me see you helmet" thread, and doing some major research last night, I just purchased this new Helmet with sun visor built in. A Scorpion EX-500 Ardent gray.

FWIW, I rode in MI with a tinted visor for years with no law-enforcement problems. You sure about that MI law?

Actually just saw a guy today with a clear visor wearing sunglasses. Here in FL, the issue isn't as much being bright outside (though that's a problem too), it's that clear visors get *really hot* after awhile in the sun. Tinted is much cooler inside the helmet.

After using mine for a week or so, Ive discovered that if you have the breath deflector on and the sun shade down, your breath will fog up the shade, Ive since taken the deflector off

adidasguy

Get some anti-fog spray. On the inside, it really keeps the fog off the visor.

I too have a full face HJC.  I have both the clear and tinted visors and regardless of which one I'm using at the time I always wear sunglasses.

I have the modular Bilt helmet with the build in drop down shades.  But, since we seem to be so much closer to the sun here in Phoenix, I still find I have to wear my sunglasses under them.  I have a friend who rides with a tinted faceshield and sunglasses.  My thought is I'd rather be able to see than to look "cool".

My helmet is an HJC CL-SP, and I wear a pair of Oakley Scalpel sunglasses underneath on bright days. They're wraparound sunglasses that fit close to my face and head, and they fit nicely through the open visor onto my face. If it gets dark I just put them in a case in my jacket pocket or backpack, and I don't have to worry about them getting scratched or broken like I would if I were carrying around a spare visor. Any sunglasses will work provided they fit under your helmet comfortably without restricting your field of view.
